Caveat about Windows Media Player:
|
Media Player as installed PHONES HOME. It reads information about
you and your computer and sends it back to Microsoft. Before you download Media
Player, read the following information about it and follow the instructions.
Subject: super cookies
I just read about them in this months PC World. Windows Media Player has a built in ID number that web sites can get a hold of and track you. To turn this off you have to go into Options on media player and uncheck "Allow internet sites to uniquely identify your player".
Checked mine and it was on. Here is a link from PC World that explains in more detail: http://www.computerbytesman.com/privacy/supercookie.htm
This is a must read!
After you have read the above, download Media Player 7.1 here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp
